Shinjuku Station is a major railway station located in the Shinjuku and Shibuya wards of Tokyo, Japan. It is the busiest railway station in the world, with an average of 3.6 million passengers per day in 2018. The station is a major connecting hub for rail traffic between Tokyo’s special wards and Western Tokyo on the inter-city rail, commuter rail, and subway lines.

Shinjuku Station has a total of 35 platforms, including an underground arcade, above-ground arcade, and numerous hallways with another 17 platforms (53 total) that can be accessed through hallways to 5 directly connected stations without surfacing outside. The entire above/underground complex has well over 200 exits.

The station is served by the following railway systems:

JR East: Chūō Main Line (Limited Express), Chūō Line (Rapid), Chūō–Sōbu Line, Saikyō Line, Shōnan–Shinjuku Line, and Yamanote Line.

Keio Corporation: Keio Line and Keio New Line.

Odakyu Electric Railway: Odakyu Odawara Line.

Toei Subway: E Ōedo Line and S Shinjuku Line.

Tokyo Metro: M Marunouchi Line.

Shinjuku Station is also a major stop for long-distance highway buses. The station is located in the Nishi-Shinjuku and Shinjuku districts of Shinjuku, and the Yoyogi and Sendagaya districts of Shibuya.
